![]() ![]() ![]() Since news of Barack’s casting broke in January, he’s been inundated with supportive reactions from fans praising the actor and the studio for the inclusive decision. Instead, he landed the role of a lifetime, getting the call to audition for “Spider-Man” just two weeks before the epic began filming. In a twist of fate, the newcomer was actually planning to spend summer break working at a local Chicago restaurant. In the upcoming Sony/Marvel film, Barack plays Peter Parker’s classmate, a friend of the secret superhero who gets caught up as mysterious forces create mayhem worldwide. “But the fact of the matter is, being in this movie is so beyond incredibly meaningful and I hope that it means something to other people.” “ For example, Peter Parker’s journey is a lot about balancing being a teenager and having this other part of your life.Īnd that is just so trans, it’s something that I absolutely think I’ve felt on a daily basis sometimes – especially being a transmasculine person because sometimes there’s a pressure to be a different way than I feel naturally inclined to do because I want to fit in, and I have to actively fight that instinct,” he continued. And there’s something very inherently trans about those stories, especially ones where identity and hidden identity is part of them,” he explained. A battle between the web-slinging hero and a star studded Sinister Six would definitely up the ante from the previous film.“I’m not by any means an expert on comics, but I read them growing up, you know, and they were important. Smoove’s character could join the duo in their attempts to defeat Spider-Man. The character has teamed up with Vulture before and has been included as a member of the Sinister Six in the comics, so it would seem likely that Mysterio and Vulture would cross paths at some point in Far From Home. Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio looks to be continuing this trend, after all. But the possibility of him playing another villain sounds more promising. It's also possible that he could reprise his role as Peter's driving instructor from Homecoming's tie-in Audi commercial. Three members have already made an appearance in the MCU Keaton’s Vulture, Shocker (a Vulture henchman), and Michael Mando’s Scorpion, who appeared in a post credit scene. The appearance of several characters in Homecoming hint that a possible showdown between Spider-Man and the Sinister Six may be in the works. While there is no word yet as to who Smoove will be playing, he could potentially be another villain. The actors will be joining what promises to be a stellar cast, along with Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, and Marisa Tomei are all said to be returning to the MCU, reprising their roles from the first film. Smoove is best known for his role of Leon Black on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and he will be shooting his part before resuming his role on the HBO comedy series. The first was Jake Gyllenhaal who is expected to play the villain Mysterio. Smoove is the second new cast member confirmed to be playing a starring role in Far From Home. Watts is returning as director, with Homecoming scribes Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers also returning to pen the script, after last co-writing the screenplay for this summer's Ant-Man and the Wasp. The cast has, for the most part, kept much of the film under wraps, but editor Dan Lebental has said that fans can expect Far From Home to be bigger and funnier than its predecessor. But what is known is that Peter Parker, played once again by Tom Holland, will be taking a break from New York City for a summer European vacation. How the two films will tie together, however, is all speculation at this point. Smoove joins the cast of Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Far From Home. The Spider-Man sequel is going to be taking place shortly after the events of Avengers 4. ![]()
